Fertilisation plays a big part in ensuring plant health

A balanced programme of nutrition is essential if plants are to grow and yield to their maximum potential. Adequate nutrition will ensure the plants are structurally strong with increased vigour, giving increased resistance to the penetration of fungal organisms and the possibility to organise their defence mechanisms. During the early stages of seedling growth and periods of rapid growth, the shortage of potassium and phosphorus can be particularly damaging, leaving the plant susceptible to diseases such as mildew.

An adequate supply of nitrogen is important, as it is essential in the formation of amino acids which are the building blocks for proteins. Conversely, a surplus of nitrogen leads to overly lush growth with the soft tissue produced being more susceptible to disease.

Phosphorus is essential for a multiplicity of plant functions and it can be replaced by no other element. It is involved in photosynthesis, energy transfer and storage, respiration, cell division and cell enlargement. Phosphorus promotes early root formation and growth, it hastens maturity, and it contributes to disease resistance in plants.

Potassium is a vital element and again cannot be replaced by anything else. For plants to produce high yields, particularly of fruits, it is probably of greater importance than nitrogen. It is involved in many processes in the plant including photosynthesis and respiration, activating enzymes and controlling reaction rates within the plant. It is important in protein synthesis, ionic balance, cell turgidity and root development, increasing winter hardiness and disease resistance in plants.

Whilst less important than the three macro elements (N P K), sulphur also plays an important role in plant growth and health. It is essential for chlorophyll formation and aids in the production of enzymes and vitamins, which are vital for vigorous, healthy, plants.

The Mandops range of plant health fertilisers provide these essential elements to plants, leading to the production of well rooted, vigorous and healthy crops.

One of the phosphorus sources in the Mandops range of plant health fertilisers is potassium phosphite, which supplements phosphate uptake when there are high demands for phosphorus within the plant. A high demand for phosphorus is most likely during new root, and shoot, growth, during flowering and during fruit production. The Mandops range of plant health fertilisers are also specially formulated to function more efficiently than simple phosphite containing fertilisers. As well as patented mixtures of fertiliser ingredients, the Mandops products contain proprietary adjuvant systems which enhance uptake and efficacy.
