DESIKOTE® for Cereals

An anti-transpirant material with rainproofing properties

DESIKOTE controls loss of malting and milling quality, and reduces shedding of grain.

The addition of DESIKOTE can:-

- provide an extremely cost- effective way of preserving grain quality, especially if harvest is delayed by unsettled weather.

- delay the rate of Hagberg degradation, such that the treated plots will still achieve milling quality (>250), and Intervention quality (>220).

- achieve an excellent maintenance of grain quality characteristics.

An application of DESIKOTE at soft dough (and no later than hard dough) will reduce moisture uptake by the grains. This greatly reduces the premature germination and sprouting of grains and helps maintain Hagberg values.

Dr Peter Kettlewell and his team (Harper Adams Agricultural College) looked at Desikote on Haven winter wheat under mist irrigation, where there appeared to be major differences in percentage sprouting between Desikote treated and untreated plants.
